Yosemite National Park, CA – May 2008  

I flew out specifically to catch the dogwood blooming – a spectacle I imagined when I was there one November and eventually hoped to see one day.  I was not disappointed.  I never knew it could be so hard to find a dogwood branch in front of a redwood tree.  Once I found one the next step was to wait for 4-8 seconds without wind.  Every night in my tent as I closed my eyes all that I saw were dogwood flowers among the giant trees.  As I drifted asleep they looked like stars in sky.  (Don’t think I’m crazy – if you spent 5-7 hours a day in the forest looking for dogwood blossoms you would see things too!)
